Following two-straight losses and a year stint of inactivity, longtime fighting staple Brandon Vera has reportedly been released from his contract at the UFC.

FOX News was first to report.

Vera started his Mixed Martial Arts career back in 2002 and started competing for the UFC as a heavyweight just three years later.

After a stint of losses at heavyweight he moved down to light-heavyweight where he saw mixed results.

In Vera’s last UFC bout he moved back to heavyweight where he got starched by Ben Rothwell in the bouts closing minutes.

Yeah... I saw this earlier today, and was going to post the news.

It seems to me that Vera is more tied-up and concerned with politically social issues right now... specifically all things geared towards legalization of hemp and medical marijuana.

It looks to me like he might be interested in seeking political office in the near future.
