DFW is obviously getting the message that MMA fans and fighters are not too happy about this move, but we all know this is being done for one reason alone... to try and garner more revenue by bringing entertainment wrestling fans to the UFC.

There's no way that CM Punk gets an established MMA fighter as his first opponent... he'll probably fight a newly signed fighter for his first fight so he gets a win, and it's likely that his first few fight will be against similar opponents so his his fans that follow him over don't lose interest in MMA.

it really does mock the sport a bit, as well as short change he fighters who had to work their way up the ranks to make it into the UFC.

I read something on the internet that stated DFW said Askren doesn't really want to fight in the UFC because he's happy fighting lesser talent/competition in other organizations for the kind of money he's making outside the UFC.

I honestly hope he does OK, but I have a feeling he won't. I understand he's been studying BJJ with one of the Gracies for quite awhile, which should give him a passable ground game.

I don't understand the majority of MMA fans' hatred of Pro wrestlers. MMA and pro wrestling do share common roots (catch-wrestling) even though most MMA fans will vehemently deny it. I will admit I hated Brock Lesnar - but not because he was a pro wrestler - the guy just strikes me as a jackass.

I don't mind entertainment wrestlers coming into the UFC, or MMA... I just don't care for the WWE entertainment antics becoming a part of a professional sport.

WWE and entertainment wrestling is just that... entertainment, and spectacle for the sake of it.
