Nick Diaz vs Anderson Silva set for Super Bowl weekend.

Let the taunting begin! It was announced today that Anderson Silva and Nick Diaz would be headlining the UFC's Super Bowl show on Saturday, January 31rst at UFC 183 in Las Vegas.

Expect fireworks and taunting folks! 

Nick Diaz just signed a 3 fight contract extension with the UFC after being away since March of 2013.   

Anderson Silva is coming back after a checked leg kick that broke his leg at UFC 168.

I for one am excited to see them both making a return. Both are polarizing figures in the MMA world. Both are amazing strikers. Both are looking to get back in the win column. This matchup has an amazing set of circumstances to get us to this point. I was actually surprised it was ever even considered to be honest.

So whose taunt will win this one?

I'm a bit surprised that this will be taking place so soon.

Anderson Silva said just a short time ago that he wasn't gonna be back until mid 2015... and then a few days ago he said that he'd be ready to go some time in February 2015.

I don't think Diaz deserves such a high profile fight right away after he quit / retired with one more fight left on his contract... but being that it's booked and scheduled to take place in January, lets hope Diaz doesn't get another fight that goes to decision that's not in his favor or he just might retire again.

I'll be picking Anderson Silva to win this one by TKO.

Both have a losing streak. Silva wants nothing to do with the title anymore. Makes sense to me. Big money fight for both.

So who are you picking to win it ?

Depends on if they keep it standing. Silva if it stays on the feet. Nick possibly with a sub if it goes to the ground.

NICK DIAZ ALL DAY!!! i dont think neither fighter is gonna knock the other out, I think Diaz wins most of the rounds by the ground game, if its standing the entire time I will give it to Silva, cause it'll be hard for Diaz to box with him, unless Silva's injury affected his footwork and is lil more flat footed during the fight. My pick still goes with Nick Diaz!

If Diaz decides to fight on the ground, we just might see Diaz get the win... but Nick hasn't wanted to fight on the ground for quite awhile now.

Nick has all but given up his ground game for the last few years now, and he seems to prefer to stand and box.

I don't say stand and bang when describing Diaz' recent preference for fighting in the Octagon / cage because Nick typically accumulates points by throwing a lot of point-type punches, whereas Anderson Silva's hands are much heavier... and as we've witnessed in the past, deceptively heavy.

I think the fight takes place on the feet, and Anderson Silva has the advantage there IMO.

Doesn't anybody think that the injury Silva sustained will play a factor in the outcome of this bout?

I think it will, and I'll be taking Diaz as the winner in this fight.

I'd love to get a few guys together and do a show on this news... we'd need to have at least 1 fan of each fighter, which shouldn't be too difficult to find.

You just may be right about that... I mentioned that same thing in a couple of shows that we've done.

I thought that whoever Silva fights upon his return is going to target the leg that was injured.
