|  This event had a series cancelled match-ups from the Junior Dos Santos vs. Stipe Miocic bout that was cancelled due to a hand injury suffered by Dos Santos, the cancelled Chael Sonnen vs. Wanderlei Silva bout because Silva refused to take a required drug test, the Diego Brandao vs. Brian Ortega bout was cancelled due to a Brandao injury, and the Demian Maia vs. Mike Pierce match-up that fizzled out. When all of the dust eventually settled, Fabio Maldonado stepped-up to take on heavyweight fighter Stipe Miocic for the main event.
