| March 21, 2014 After a lackluster outing against Michael Johnson, the UFC has released Melvin Guillard. Dana White was critical of his performance in this fight. "There’s no doubt Melvin ran the entire fight and was incredibly passive, the complete opposite of how he used to fight," he said. "There was a lot of smack talk leading up to that fight, and those are the fights that everybody gets excited about, and nine times out of 10 they end up like tonight. Those drive me crazy." Melvin had been 1-4 in his last five fights with his last win coming against Mac Danzig at the UFC on FOX 8 event. Melvin's manager Malki Kawa had this to say. "We're working to get him signed somewhere else," he said. "I'm going to do what's best for Melvin." Undoubtedly if Melvin wants to keep fighting, he will be picked up. I wish him the best and hope he can make his way back to his winning ways.

| I guess this was to be expected being that he only had 2 wins in his last eight fights... I guess he's either Bellator or WSOF bound now. | |

My guess would be Bellator. Guillard still has a lot of fight left in him. He just needs motivation and wins. Wins will give him his confidence back. Hopefully he can do well, but his sub defense and being able to stay out of those threats needs a lot of work. | |
