As I lay in bed last night, trying to get my brain to shut down, so I could sleep - my mind made the connection between Mark Hunt and David "Tank" Abbott, and their similarities. This isn't intended as a criticism of Hunt - who I feel is a better, more rounded Mixed Martial Artist than Tank ever was, but merely that they share some common traits.

First - both men have won fights they were expected to lose, due to the fact that they are both beastly strikers who can knock out anybody, if they can land a clean punch. For Hunt and Tank both - you couldn't (and can't) ever count them entirely out, because one big punch could snatch a victory from the jaws of defeat.

Second - Both men have a history of stepping up and taking fights on short notice. If memory serves, Hunt has done this quite a few times before. Back in the day - when most of the early UFC's were fought in a tournament setup, this was something Tank was famous for. If he was eliminated early in the tournament, he'd be right there volunteering to take someone's place, should they be injured or too tired to compete again.

I'm sure there are more... I mean, I suppose we could compare the size of their bellies ... Neither man was ever the picture of physical fitness... Anyways, if you can think of more similarities between them, feel free to share...
